At Alpha Mentality Dog Training, we use a balanced training approach, the combination of positive reinforcement and fair, clear corrections, to train dogs throughout Downey, Norwalk, Bellflower, Paramount, Whittier, Lakewood, Pico Rivera, Cerritos, Santa Fe Springs, La Mirada, and surrounding cities.
Balanced training means we reward the behaviors we want to see and correct the behaviors we do not, rather than relying on one method alone. This mirrors how dogs naturally learn cause and effect, which is why it produces obedience that holds up in real world conditions, not just inside a quiet training room.
We do not believe in a one size fits all method. Every dog we train goes through an individual assessment first, so we understand their temperament, triggers, and history before building a plan. From there, our approach focuses on three things:

Puppy Prevention Program
Best for: Puppies 4.5 months and younger, before bad habits take hold
What's included: 4 sessions, 45 minutes each, a slip-lead leash, and covering foundational obedience (sit, stay, place, recall), leash manners, socialization guidance, house manners, and balanced communication techniques introduced early and correctly
Outcome: A puppy that grows into a well-mannered, obedient adult dog, without the behavior problems that come from inconsistent or purely permissive early training

Alpha Foundation Formula
Best for: Dogs with a step up in behavioral issues, especially leash pulling, minor reactivity, and struggles staying calm at home
What's included: 4 sessions, 1 hour each, a leash, prong collar, and e-collar, with training focused on gaining real control over leash pulling, addressing minor reactivity, and building calm behavior around the home
Outcome: A dog that walks politely on leash, responds reliably around mild triggers, and stays settled at home instead of anxious or reactive
Price: $1,799
Alpha Concierge Experience
Best for: Owners who want the full Calm, Cool, Collected Transformation results, delivered in the comfort of their own home
What's included: Everything included in the Calm, Cool, Collected Transformation, 7 sessions, 1 hour each, a leash, prong collar, e-collar, and place cot, with training that comes directly to you instead of an outside location. Public outings are also included, held near the owner's home so your dog learns to handle real-world situations and triggers specific to your own neighborhood
Outcome: A calm, confident, and fully obedient dog, no matter how severe the starting behavior, ready to handle real-world environments, including the specific streets, parks, and situations near your own home, all while training from the comfort and convenience of your own space
Price: $3,499
Core Obedience Program
Best for: Dogs ready to build real foundational obedience and address minor behavior issues before advancing to e-collar training
What's included: 4 sessions, 1 hour each, a leash and prong collar, and training in sit, down, place, heel, and break, along with the beginnings of basic behavior modification for minor issues
Outcome: A dog with reliable basic obedience and early behavior correction in place, fully prepared to move into our Advanced E-Collar Training program
Price: $999
Calm, Cool, Collected Transformation
Best for: Dogs with significant reactivity, anxiety, hyperactivity, leash pulling, or a combination of serious behavioral challenges
What's included: 7 sessions, 1 hour each, a leash, prong collar, e-collar, and place cot, with comprehensive training designed to address reactivity, anxiety, hyperactivity, and leash control at the highest level
Outcome: A calm, confident, and fully obedient dog, no matter how severe the starting behavior, ready to handle real-world environments without reactivity, anxiety, or chaos
Price: $2,499
Private Board & Train
Best for: Dogs needing immersive, intensive training, with more severe reactivity or anxiousness often benefiting from the longer track
What's included: A prong collar, e-collar, leash, and place cot, with one on one attention since we only train one dog at a time during every Board and Train stay, no group kenneling or shared training time
Program Length:
2 Weeks — recommended for most dogs
3 Weeks — recommended for dogs with more severe reactivity or anxiousness
Outcome: A fully trained, calm, and obedient dog, built through focused, one on one immersion training without the distraction of other dogs
Note: Not all dogs are accepted into the Board and Train program. Acceptance is determined after an assessment to ensure it's the right fit.
